Full Sun – The state tree of Texas. A large, graceful, shapely tree valued for both its shade and delicious nuts. Due to susceptibility to tent caterpillars, weevils, scab, shuck worms and many more pests, needs considerable chemical controls. Requires moist, well drained soils but tolerates a wide range of water situations. Not good in poor soils.
